Rotor Drive (Planetary) Oil - Change

Hot oil and hot components can cause personal injury. Do not allow hot oil or hot components to contact the skin.



NOTICE

Do not under fill or over fill the rotor planetary reducer with oil. Either condition can cause damage to the rotor drive system. Allow enough time for oil to flow through the bearings and reach the correct level in all compartments. Allow more time for cold oil.

  1. Raise left side plate (1) until the plate reaches its highest point. Lock the plate in place.

  2. Raise the moldboard (2) and secure the moldboard using latch (3).

  3. Turn the rotor so that level plug (4) is in the 3 o'clock position.

  4. Remove level plug (4).

  5. Remove drain plug (5). Allow the oil to drain into a suitable container.

  6. Attach an oil pump to the port for drain plug (5). A fitting may be required to attach the oil pump, consult your Cat dealer for additional information.

  7. Use the oil pump to fill the rotor drive planetary until the oil reaches the bottom of the opening for level plug (4).

  8. Install level plug (4).

  9. Remove the pump from the port for drain plug (5), and install drain plug (5).
