Engine Crankcase - Deutz Engine
Change the Oil and Filter Element

Hot oil and components can cause personal injury. Do not allow hot oil or components to contact skin. |
 |
- 1. Remove the crankcase access cover located under the rear of the machine.
- 2. Remove the drain plug. Allow the oil to drain into a container.
- 3. Install the drain plug after all of the oil has drained.
NOTE: If equipped with cab engine oil heating system:
Run the engine for one minute with the cab heating system lever in the ON position.
Move the cab heating system lever to the OFF position and stop the engine before changing oil.
- 4. Raise the upper and side engine access cover.
- 5. Remove and discard the used crankcase oil filter element. Make sure all of the old filter seal is removed from the filter base. Clean the base with a clean cloth.
- 6. Apply a thin coat of oil to the seal on the new filter element.
- 7. Install the filter by hand until the filter contacts the base. Tighten 1/2 turn more.
There are rotation index marks on each new filter spaced 90° apart, to be used as a guide for tightening.
- 8. Remove the crankcase oil fill cap. Fill with oil. See "Refill Capacities."
- 9. Always measure the oil with the dipstick to make certain the quantity of oil added is correct.
Maintain the oil level to the top mark on the dipstick.
- 10. Clean and install the fill cap.
- 11. Install the access covers.
Fuel Filter Element - Perkins Engine

Fuel leaked or spilled onto hot surfaces or electrical components can cause a fire. Turn the start switch key OFF or disconnect the battery when changing fuel filters. |

Do not fill fuel filters with fuel before installing them. Contaminated fuel will cause accelerated wear to fuel system components. No attempt should be made to start the engine until the fuel injection pump has been filled with fuel and air removed from the system, or serious damage can be caused to the fuel injection pump. |
Open the access cover above the engine.
- 1. Loosen the filter retaining bolt (1) and remove bowl (3). Remove and discard element (2).
- 2. Remove and discard the two seals in the filter base and one seal in bowl (3).
- 3. Clean bowl (3) in clean, nonflammable solvent and dry.
- 4. Install new seals in the filter base and bowl.
- 5. Install new filter element (2) in bowl (3). Install bowl and element. Tighten bolt (1).
Priming the Fuel System
- 1. Loosen the air vents (1) and (2).
- 2. Operate the primer lever, on the fuel transfer and primary pump, until the flow of fuel at vents (1) and (2) are free of air bubbles.
NOTE: If the cam lobe on the camshaft that drives the fuel transfer and priming pump is at maximum lift, the primer lever will not operate. Turn the engine until the primer lever can be operated.
- 3. Tighten the air vents (1) and (2).
- 4. Loosen fitting (3) at fuel inlet of injection pump.
- 5. Operate the primer lever until the flow of fuel is free of air bubbles.
- 6. Tighten fitting (3).

Fuel line to cold start thermostatic heater at manifold must be primed each time filter elements are changed. Operation of the heat control without fuel will burn out the heater coil. |
- 7. Loosen the fuel line nut at the cold start heater.
- 8. Operate the primer lever until the flow of fuel is free of air bubbles. Tighten the fuel line nut.
- 9. Loosen the fuel line nuts at the injector ends of the fuel injection lines.
- 10. Turn the engine, with the starting motor, until fuel free of air bubbles flows from the fuel line nuts. Tighten the fuel line nuts to a torque of 20 N·m (15 lb ft).
Fuel Tank Cap and Fill Screen
Clean the Cap and Screen

Pressure air can cause personal injury. When using pressure air for cleaning, wear a protective face shield, protective clothing and protective shoes. The maximum air pressure must be below 205 kPa (30 psi) for cleaning purposes. Use all cleaning solutions with care. |

- 1. Remove the cap and screen.
- 2. Wash in clean, nonflammable solvent and dry.
- 3. Install the screen and cap.
Hydraulic System
Change the Filter Elements

Hot oil can cause burns. At operating temperature, the hydraulic tank is hot and under pressure. Remove the fill cap only when the engine is stopped, and the cap is cool enough to touch with your bare hand. Remove the fill cap slowly to relieve pressure. |

- 1. Remove the oil fill plug slowly to relieve the tank pressure.
- 2. Remove the bolts and the cover.
- 3. Remove the valve assembly.
- 4. Remove the two used filter elements.
- 5. Install the two new filter elements.
- 6. Install the valve assembly.
- 7. Replace any damaged seals.
- 8. Replace the cover and bolts.
- 9. Remove the breather assembly. Use a wrench to loosen the nut under the breather.
- 10. Unscrew the upper part of the breather and remove the filter element.
- 11. Install a new filter element and reassemble the upper part.
- 12. Install the breather and tighten the breather nut.
- 13. Maintain the oil level to the middle of the upper sight gauge.
- 14. Remove the oil fill plug, if necessary, and add oil.
Loosen the breather if the oil does not flow through the oil fill fast enough.
Swing Gear Brake
Check for Wear
- 1. Remove the brake access cover.
- 2. Measure the stroke of the cylinder from the engaged to the released brake position.
When the movement is greater than 35 mm (1.38 inch), contact your AVSpare dealer for adjustment or possibly new brake shoes.
- 3. Install the access cover.
Fuel Filter - Deutz Engine
Change the Filter Element

- 1. Remove the fuel filter access cover located under the rear of the machine.
- 2. Remove and discard the filter element.
- 3. Clean the filter element mounting base.
- 4. Coat the seal of the new filter element with clean diesel fuel.
- 5. Install the new filter element by hand. When the seal contacts the base, tighten 1/2 turn more.
There are rotation-index marks 90° apart on the filter. Use them as a guide for proper tightening.
