Engine Crankcase Oil

Measure the Oil Level

------ WARNING! ------

Hot oil and components can cause personal injury. Do not allow hot oil or components to contact skin.



Do not overfill the crankcase to avoid engine damage.

1. Unlatch and open the left access door on the rear of the machine.

2. Maintain the oil level between the ADD and FULL marks on the dipstick.
3. Remove the oil fill plug and add oil if necessary.
4. Clean and install the fill plug.
5. Close the access door.

Engine Cooling System

Look at the Coolant Level

------ WARNING! ------

At operating temperature, the engine coolant is hot and under pressure.

Steam can cause personal injury.

Check the coolant level only after the engine has been stopped and the fill cap is cool enough to touch with your bare hand.

Remove the fill cap slowly to relieve pressure.

Cooling system conditioner contains alkali. Avoid contact with the skin and eyes to prevent personal injury.

1. With the machine level and the engine stopped and cool, open the rear access door on the left side of the machine.
2. Pull the latch and open the radiator cap access cover.

3. Remove the cap slowly to relieve pressure.

4. Maintain the coolant level to within 1 cm (1/2inch) of the bottom of the fill pipe.
5. Inspect the cap seal. Replace the cap if it is damaged.
6. Install the cap. Close and secure the access cover and door.

Fuel Tank

Drain the Moisture and Sediment

------ WARNING! ------

Fuel leaked or spilled onto hot surfaces or electrical components can cause a fire.


Drain valve is located under the fuel tank.

1. Open the drain valve and allow the moisture and sediment to drain.
2. Close the drain valve.

Walk-Around Inspection

Inspect Machine

See "Walk-Around Inspection" in the "Before Starting the Engine" section.

Cleaning Windows

Use commercially available window cleaning solutions to clean the windows.

Seat Belt

Inspect for Wear or Damage

------ WARNING! ------

Always check condition of seat belt and mounting hardware before operating machine. Replace any damaged or worn parts.

Replace the seat belt after three years of usage, regardless of appearance.


Seat belt and mounting hardware must be inspected for wear or damage. Replace the belt or mounting hardware if worn or damaged.

Indicators and Gauges

Test for Proper Function

1. Look for broken gauge lenses or lights, switches, etc.
2. Start the engine.

3. Look for inoperative gauges.
4. Stop the engine.
5. Make any needed repairs.

Malfunction Warning System


1. Turn on the battery disconnect switch.
2. Move and hold the system's test switch to TEST position.

The malfunction warning flasher (1) and air and hydraulic oil filter indicators (2) should light.

Have necessary repairs made if lights do not come on.

Travel Alarm - If Equipped


The machine must be moved to test the alarm.

1. Start the engine. Raise the boom high enough to clear obstacles. Watch the overhead clearance.

2. Depress the right travel pedal to move the machine forward toward the idlers.

3. The travel alarm, located under the upper structure, should sound.

4. Release the right travel pedal. Depress the left travel pedal to move toward the sprockets. The alarm should sound.

5. Push in the button on top of the steering control while moving. The alarm should stop after 10 seconds when moving in either direction.
6. Stop the machine. Lower the equipment. Engage the hydraulic and directional lock lever. Stop the engine.

7. The sound level can be adjusted by moving adjustment on back of alarm to meet operating requirements.
