5130B Excavator Swing Drive Oil - Change

Note: The two swing drive motors are located in the center of the swing frame. Perform the same procedure for both swing drive motors.

  1. Ecology drain valve (1) is located at the base of the swing drive motor. Remove the oil drain hose from the tool box in the cab support. Weave the end of the hose through hole (2) in the swing frame and into a suitable oil container.

    Hot oil and hot components can cause personal injury. Do not allow hot oil or hot components to contact the skin.

    NOTICE

    Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the machine. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.

    Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "AVSpare Tools and Shop Products Guide", for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids in AVSpare machines.

    Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.


  1. Screw the hose fitting onto ecology drain valve (1). The valve will open and the oil will drain. Dispose of fluids according to local regulations.

    Note: Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "General Hazard Information" for information on containing fluid spillage.

  1. Remove the oil drain hose and clean the hose. Clean ecology drain valve (1) .

  1. Check the oil level of the swing drive motor. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Swing Drive Oil Level - Check" for information on checking the oil level.

  1. Repeat Step 1 through 4 for the other swing drive motor.
