1.1. Removal of the Tool
2.1. Installation of the Tool

Removal of the Tool

Note: Use caution when you touch the hammer tool. The hammer tool is very hot after the tool has been active.

  1. Lay the hammer on blocks. The blocks should be high enough to allow the retaining pins to be removed.

  2. Put the host machine's transmission in neutral. The parking brake should be engaged.

  3. Stop the engine.

    Note: Step 4 of the removal process is performed for the following models: 140/H140s and 160/H160s. Refer to Illustration 2.

  4. Fully depress spring loaded locking pin with screwdriver (2) and remove one 3Q-7776 Pin (4). Fully depress spring loaded locking pin with screwdriver (1) and remove the second 3Q-7776 Pin (5).

    Note: Step 5 of the removal process is performed for the following models: 115/H115s, 130/H130s, 180/H180s and H195.

  5. Fully depress spring loaded locking pin (6) with a screwdriver. Remove pin (3) that locks retaining pin (4) and retaining pin (5). Remove retaining pin (4) and retaining pin (5).

    Note: Step 6 of the removal process is performed for the following models: 120/H120s/H120Cs.

    Note: The 120/H120s/H120Cs hammers do not have spring pins.

  6. Remove locking pin (3). Remove the two retaining pins (4) and (5).

  7. In order to remove the tool, use a suitable lifting device. Refer to the Table 1 for the weight of the tool. Remove hammer tool (1).

  8. After you remove the hammer tool, inspect the lower tool bushing for wear. Refer to the Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Tool Bushing (Lower) - Inspect/Replace" for information on inspecting the bushing.

  9. After you have removed the hammer tool, inspect the hammer tool for wear. Refer to the Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Tool - Inspect" for information on inspecting the hammer tool.

  10. After you have removed the hammer tool, inspect the seal for the bushings for wear. You must replace the seal if the seal is worn or if the seal is damaged.

Installation of the Tool

  1. Position the hammer in order to install the retaining pins from the top of the housing.

  2. Clean hammer tool (1) and lubricate the sides of hammer tool (1) that contacts the bushing with grease. Do not put grease on top of the tool.

  3. Clean all of the pins. Lubricate all of the pins with grease.

  4. Install hammer tool (1) and align the grooves of tool (1) with the pin bores.

    Note: Step 5 of the installation process is performed for the following models: 140/H140s and 160/H160s. Refer to Illustration 6.

  5. Fully depress spring loaded locking pin with screwdriver (2). Install retaining pins (4) and (5).

    Note: Step 6 of the installation process is performed for the following models: 115/H115s, 130/H130s, 180/H180s and H195.

  6. Fully depress spring loaded locking pin (6) with a screwdriver. Install retaining pins (4) and (5).

  7. Install locking pin (3) in order to lock the retaining pins.

  8. Check that retaining pin (4) and retaining pin (5) are secured by locking pin (3).

    Note: Step 9 of the installation process is performed on the 120/H120s/H120Cs model.

    Note: The 120/H120s/H120Cs hammers do not have spring pins.

  9. Install two retaining pins (4) and (5).

  10. Install pin (3) in order to lock the retaining pins.

  11. Check that retaining pin (4) and retaining pin (5) are secured by locking pin (3).
