Note: Refer to the Operation and Maintenance Manual, "General Hazard Information" for information in containing fluid spillage.

  1. Remove the dirt that is around each plug.

  2. Remove fill plug (1) and drain plug (2). Allow the oil to drain into a suitable container.

  3. Clean each plug and inspect the O-ring seals. If wear or damage is evident, replace the plugs, and/or the O-ring seals.

  4. Install drain plug (2).

  5. Fill the gearbox with oil to the bottom of the filler plug opening. See Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Lubricant Viscosities" and Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Capacities (Refill) ".

  6. Install fill plug (1).

  7. Completely remove the oil that has spilled onto surfaces.

  8. Check the drained oil for metal chips or for particles. If there are any chips or particles, consult your Cat dealer.

  9. Properly dispose of the drained material. Obey local regulations for the disposal of the material.

Note: Do not grease the transmission. The grease fitting is used for activating and deactivating the parking brake manually during towing conditions . Reference this Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Towing Information".
