Hot oil and hot components can cause personal injury. Do not allow hot oil or hot components to contact skin. |
Drain the oil while the oil is warm. The warm oil will allow waste particles that are suspended in the oil to drain properly.

Note: Refer to the Operation and Maintenance Manual, "General Hazard Information" for information in containing fluid spillage.
- Remove the dirt that is around each plug.
- Remove fill plug (1) and drain plug (2). Allow the oil to drain into a suitable container.
- Clean each plug and inspect the O-ring seals. If wear or damage is evident, replace the plugs, and/or the O-ring seals.
- Install drain plug (2).
- Fill the gearbox with oil to the bottom of the filler plug opening. See Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Lubricant Viscosities" and Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Capacities (Refill) ".
- Install fill plug (1).
- Completely remove the oil that has spilled onto surfaces.
- Check the drained oil for metal chips or for particles. If there are any chips or particles, consult your Cat dealer.
- Properly dispose of the drained material. Obey local regulations for the disposal of the material.
Note: Do not grease the transmission. The grease fitting is used for activating and deactivating the parking brake manually during towing conditions . Reference this Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Towing Information".
