Installation Procedure

Note: Before you install the quick coupler, ensure that the hydraulic system of the host machine meets the following requirements:

  • The control of the quick coupler must be protected against inadvertent operation.

  • When the quick coupler is engaged, there must be no buildup of pressure on the side of the cylinder that disengages the pins of the quick coupler.

  • When the pins of the quick coupler are disengaged, the pins will be held in the disengaged position by the hydraulic system.

  1. Clean all of the pins and the bores for the pins.

  2. Hang the coupler in front of the host machine. Lift the coupler with a properly rated lifting sling. Do not use a steel cable or use a chain to lift the coupler. Refer to , "Lifting and Tying"
    additional information.

  3. Align the lower bores of the coupler with the bores in the lift arms.

  4. Install the pins into the lower bores of the quick coupler and the bores of the lift arms. Lock the pins.

Note: Many wheel loaders have spacer rings for the pins on the lift arms. Use the spacer rings to reduce the size of the gap between the lift arms and the quick coupler.

  5. Move the tilt linkage until the bores on the tilt linkage and the bores of the coupler are aligned.

  6. Install the pins. Lock the pins.

  7. Connect the hydraulic lines.

  8. In order to purge the air from the cylinder on the coupler, completely extend the cylinder and completely retract the cylinder. Perform the task for three times.

  9. Check the position of the stops (1) and (2) on the quick coupler. In order to verify the position of the stops, consult the Operation and Maintenance Manual for the host machine.

Note: Some quick couplers are equipped with stops if the host machine required the stops.

Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the work tool from the quick coupler. Rack the work tool back before you unlock the quick coupler.

  2. Place the coupler on a surface that is flat and solid.

  3. Stop the engine. In order to relieve the pressure in the hydraulic system, cycle the controls for the hydraulic system.

  4. Disconnect the hydraulic lines. Cap the hydraulic lines or plug the hydraulic lines.

  5. Remove the pin from the tilt linkage and the upper bores of the coupler.

  6. Start the engine and move the tilt linkage away from the coupler.

  7. Remove the pins from the lower bores of the coupler and the lift arms of the host machine.

  8. Move the machine away from the coupler.

  9. After the coupler has been removed, coat all of the bushings in the pin bores with grease. Coat all of the unused pins with grease.
