Fuel Tank

Check Fuel Level

Fill up the fuel tank with clean fuel after service, to prevent condensation in the tank (6, Fig. 518).

Air Cleaner

Check Indicator

A red piston in the indicator shows that the air cleaner element is dirty. Clean or replace the filter element at this stage (1, Fig. 776).

Engine Crankcase

Check Oil Level

Hot oil and components can cause personal injury. Do not allow hot oil or components to contact skin.

------WARNING!--------

Place machine on level ground and stop the engine. Pull out dipstick (1, Fig. 778), wipe with clean rag and push in fully.

Pull the dipstick out again after a short interval. Check the oil level on the dipstick. The oil level should reach up to the top notch.

Fill with oil, if required (2, Fig. 779).

Hydraulic Fluid

Check Level

Hot oil and components can cause personal injury. Do not allow hot oil or components to contact skin.

------WARNING!--------

The hydraulic fluid level should come up to the middle of the top inspection glass (2, Fig. 521).

Fill, if required.

Place machine on level ground for checking and rest attachment with the bucket on the ground and the boom cylinders extended.

Backhoe Linkage

Lubricate

Lubricate 12 fittings.

Lift cylinder head pins, main boom cylinder piston pins, pin boom/main boom, bucket cylinder piston pins, bucket cylinder head pins, pins for arm and lever, bucket pins as shown.

Lubricate

Lubricate two fittings (Fig. 528).

Lift cylinder lower pins.

Lubricate

Lubricate one fitting (Fig. 529)

Main boom mounting.

NOTE:

1. Clean the grease caps thoroughly before and after lubricating.
2. Replace faulty grease caps immediately.
3. Continue packing until lubricant emerges from the bearings.
