- Position the work tool in an upright position just above the ground.
- Stop the machine engine in order to prevent inadvertent movement of the work tool.
Note: The host machine must be equipped with a boom lowering control valve in order to perform this procedure. If the host machine is not equipped with a boom lowering control valve, contact your Verachtert dealer.
- Remove the cover plate (3) and the bolts in order to gain access to the bolts on the inner ring.

- Check the static inspection torque of all 34 rotator head bolts on the inner ring. Use appropriate tooling in order to apply the torque that is specified in Table 1. Only one rotator head bolt will be accessible at a time through the inspection hole. Check all of the rotator head bolts on the inner ring of the rotator.

Table 1 Static inspection torque     Sales model     Bolt size     Torque value     VT-30     M20 x 2.5
460 N·m (340 lb ft)    VT-40     Note: Rotate the work tool in order to access all rotator head bolts on the inner ring.
Note: The rotator head bolt on the inner ring should not move before a torque that is specified in Table 1 is reached. If the rotator head bolt moves, then the sealant has been broken and the rotator head bolt has been overstressed. All rotator head bolts on the inner ring and the washers in the inner ring must then be replaced.

- Install the cover plate (3) and the bolts.
Note: Do not operate the work tool while the cover plate (3) is removed. The cover plate (3) is part of an indicator function that identifies failure of the rotator head bolts in the inner ring.
The cover plate (3) has the following two functions:
- The cover plate (3) covers the hole.
- The cover plate (3) functions as part of an indicator that identifies failure of the rotator head bolts in the inner ring.
When a rotator head bolt has broken or has come loose in the inner ring, the rotator head bolt will fall into the hole that is covered by the cover plate (3). The cover plate (3) causes the rotator head bolt to remain in the hole.
The rotator head bolt that is in the hole will stop the rotation of the work tool.
Stop operating the work tool if the work tool will not rotate.
Inspect the rotator head bolts in the inner ring. Refer to, "Rotator Head Bolts - Inspect" for additional information.
When rotator head bolts on the inner ring are loose or missing, all the rotator head bolts and the washers in the inner ring must then be replaced.
Do not operate the work tool when the rotator is stalled. Structural damage to the work tool will occur.
