Introduction
This special instruction covers the installation of the 360-6814 Hydraulic Kit . The hydraulic kit will convert machines that use a pin grabber coupler to use a Center Lock coupler.
If the machine has existing coupler lines installed, this kit will convert the machine to use a Center-Lock coupler.
Do not perform any of the procedures until you have read the information in this publication.

Do not operate or work on this machine unless you have read and understand the instructions and warnings in the Operation and Maintenance Manuals. Failure to follow the instructions or heed the warnings could result in injury or death. Contact your Cat dealer for replacement manuals. Proper care is your responsibility. |

Personal injury or death can result from improperly checking for a leak. Always use a board or cardboard when checking for a leak. Escaping air or fluid under pressure, even a pin-hole size leak, can penetrate body tissue causing serious injury, and possible death. If fluid is injected into your skin, it must be treated immediately by a doctor familiar with this type of injury. |

Hot oil and hot components can cause personal injury. Do not allow hot oil or hot components to contact skin. |

Hydraulic oil pressure can remain in the hydraulic systems after the engine and pump have been stopped. Serious injury can be caused if this pressure is not released before any service is done on the hydraulic systems. To prevent possible injury, refer to the section, Testing and Adjusting, "Hydraulic System Pressure - Release" before any fitting, hose or component is loosened, tightened, removed or adjusted. When possible, the implement must always be lowered to the ground before service is started. When it is necessary for the implement to be in the raised position while tests or adjustments are done, be sure that the implements have correct support. The swing lock (if equipped) must be engaged before service is started. Always move the machine to a location away from the travel of other machines. Be sure that other personnel are not near the machine when the engine is running and tests or adjustments are being made. |

NOTICE |
---|
During the conversion to Center-Lock Hydraulics, remove the screens of the coupler control valve on the machines with the Pin Grabber Plus hydraulic kits. Coupler control valves contained screens on machines built prior to November 2010. Refer to Special Instructions, REHS5661, "Procedure to Rework the Quick Coupler Control Valve on Certain Excavators". |
- Disconnect the existing hose from the pump and port (P) on the solenoid valve.

- Install reducer assembly (4) and nut (8) on tee (5). Install elbow assembly (3) on reducer (4) .
- Route hose (2) from the solenoid valve to tee (5) at the boom foot. Cut the hose to length. Install coupling assembly (6) on hose (2). Connect hose (2) to tee (5) .
- Tighten all hose and fittings to the correct torques.
- Start the machine and check for leaks.
Configure the Machine
The machine must be configured before the quick coupler can be used. The Quick Coupler option under Attachment Parts Installation in the Configuration Mode must be updated. Refer to the following document that is available on the Service Information System (SIS).
ReferenceSystems Operation, RENR8068, "Configuration Mode - Attachment Parts Installation"
Check The System
- Purge the air from the hydraulic lines of the coupler. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Hydraulic System - Air Purge" for more information.
- After the electrical system is connected and after the hydraulic system is connected, check the coupler for proper operation. Refer to the Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Operation" for more information.
