Modification Procedure for the Opening to the Fill Valve Cylinder

In severe applications, accelerated wear of track joints can occur. Accelerated wear will result in an inability to properly tension the tracks due to restricted access for the fill valve on the track adjuster. To increase available adjustment range, the fill valve opening on the side of the roller frame can be enlarged by 21 mm (0.83 inch) towards the front of the roller frame. Perform the following steps.

  1. Remove the front idler and track adjuster. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Front Idler and Track Adjuster – Remove".

  1. Discard the 158-4706 Cover .

    (D) 54 mm (2.13 inch)

    (E) R20 mm

    (F) Cut this area from the existing opening on the roller frame.

  1. Enlarge the opening for access to the fill valve. Refer to Illustration 2 for location and dimensions of the hole.

  1. Drill and tap a new hole for attaching the 352-6598 Cover using an 8.7 mm (0.343 inch) drill bit and a M10 x 1.5 tap. Refer to Illustration 4 for the location.

  1. Reinstall the front idler and track adjuster. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Front Idler and Track Adjuster – Install".

  1. Install the new 352-6598 cover.
