SAFETY - PRODUCT IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM FOR CORRECTING THE SERVICE BRAKE RESERVOIR HOSE LENGTH ON 416E BACKHOE LOADERS.

MODELS INVOLVED - 416E

Dear AVSpare Product Owner:

The brake hoses which connect the brake fluid reservoir to the master cylinders are too long. This causes the hoses to kink and restrict oil flow to the master cylinders which may result in diminished brake performance and may result in personal injury or death. The hoses need to be reworked on the products listed below. You will not be charged for the service performed.

Contact your local AVSpare dealer immediately to schedule this service. The dealer will advise you of the time required to complete this service.

Please refer the dealer to their Service Letter dated 03Jul2006 when scheduling this service.

We regret the inconvenience this may cause you, but urge you to have this service performed for your added safety and satisfaction.

2) Disconnect the reservoir bottle from the mounting bracket.

3) Tip the reservoir with the lid on its side to avoid spilling fluid and cut the brake lines at the base of the reservoir bottle outlets, as shown in the illustration below.
Note: Make the cut 30-35mm from the reservoir side.
Image1.3.1

4) Stretch brake reservoir lines straight out from firewall and cut as shown in the illustration below.
Note: You will need to cut both hoses.
Caution: DO NOT cut the hoses too short ? if so, the hose will need to be replaced.
Image1.4.1

5) Loosen the clamps on the hoses and remove the short hose lengths from the reservoir.
Note: The clamps will be reused.

6) Connect the reworked hoses back to the reservoir, using the original clamps.

7) Partially refill the reservoir with fluid and hold reservoir up for a few seconds to allow air bubbles to travel up into the reservoir.

8) Route the hoses over the top of the hydraulic tank.

9) Mount the reservoir back to the hood frame.

10) Reinstall the cowling assembly.
