When reporting the repair, use "PI31178" as the Part Number and "7751" as the Group Number, "56" as the Warranty Claim Description Code and "T" as the SIMS Description code. Exception: If the repair is done after failure, use "PI31178" as the Part Number, "7751" as the Group Number, "96" as the Warranty Claim Description Code, and "Z" as the SIMS Description Code.

Two plugs need to be removed from the hydraulic fan motor on certain 330D Excavators. The existing 4B-3665 Bearings can fail due to lack of lubrication of the fan drive shaft.

Removing the two 137-3780 Plugs from the hydraulic fan motor insures proper lubrication of the drive shaft. The two existing 4B-3665 Bearings need to be replaced by with two new 4B-3665 Bearings. Refer to the attached Rework Procedure.

Two plugs need to be removed from the hydraulic fan motor on the productds listed below. The existing 4B-3665 Bearings can fail due to lack of lubrication of the fan drive shaft. You will not be charged for the service performed.

Contact your local AVSpare dealer immediately to schedule this service. The dealer will advise you of the time required to complete this service.

Please refer the dealer to their Service Letter dated 07Nov2006 when scheduling this service.

Rework Procedure

1) Put air vacuum tooling on the hydraulic tank.
2) Remove the 273-7836 Sheet Assembly.
3) Remove the 262-2543 Sheet Assembly.
4) Remove the 262-2145 Sheet Assembly.

5) Remove the 273-7911 Engine Hood.
6) Remove 256-1912 Sheet Assembly.
7) Remove the 273-7852 Support.

8) Remove the 234-4638 Fan Motor.
9) Clean the 209-6063 Shaft and remove two 137-3780 Plugs.

10) Remove the top 245-9293 Fan Guard.
11) Remove the fan fixed to the fan drive.
12) Take out the 200-3313 Fan Drive.
13) Remove and replace the two 4B-3665 Bearings by removing two 6V-5590 and 095-7424 Rings.
14) Clean and lube before reassembly.
15) Change 137-3751 and 4M-0189 Seals.
16) Reassemble fan and fan drive using three 8T-4139 Bolts and a new special folded 139-8753 Lockwasher. Tighten to a torque of 100 +/-20 Nm.
17) Fix the fan drive and motor using two NEW 8T-4194 Bolts and 8T-4223 Washers. Tighten to a torque of 100 +/-20 Nm.
18) Fix fan guard using eight 8T-4137 Bolts and 7X-7729 Washers. Tighten to a torque of 55 +/-10 Nm.
19) Fix the 273-7852 Support using four 135-8575 Bolts. Tighten to a torque of 100 +/-20 Nm.
20) Fix the 256-1912 Sheet Assembly using two 135-8573 Bolts. Tighten to a torque of 100 +/-20 Nm.
21) Fix the 273-7911 Engine Hood using eleven 135-8573 Bolts. Tighten to a torque of 100 +/-20 Nm.
22) Fix the 262-2145 Sheet Assembly using two 135-8573 Bolts. Tighten to a torque of 100 +/-20 Nm.
23) Fix the 262-2543 Sheet Assembly using four 135-8573 Bolts. Tighten to a torque of 100 +/-20 Nm.
24) Fix the 273-7836 Sheet Assembly using two 135-8575 Bolts. Tighten to a torque of 100 +/-20 Nm.
25) Remove the air vacuum tooling.
