In order to allow equitable parts availability to all participating dealers, please limit your initial parts order to not exceed 9% of dealership population. This is an initial order recommendation only, and the ultimate responsibility for ordering the total number of parts needed to satisfy the program lies with the dealer. |
ACTION REQUIRED
Remove all 130-0484 Tapered Pins from dealer parts stock (part number is stamped on the end of the pin). |
A new 300-5442 Pin has improved fatigue life by increasing heat treat area and also increased the radius at thread base from 0.8mm to 3mm radius. Refer to the attached rework procedure for remove and installing the pin. Before Failure: Replacing the tapered pin and hardware prior to cracks or breaking of the tapered pin. Use "56" as the Warranty Claim Description Code and "T" as the SIMS Description Code. After Failure: Replacing the pin and hardware after the tapered pin has cracked, broken or come loose. If the pin has come loose, inspect the taper bore in the swing casting before fitting a new pin. If the bore has been significantly damaged, the swing casting must be replaced. Use "96" as the Warranty Claim Description Code and "Z" as the SIMS Description Code. |

Install the new tapered pin into the bore using the new nut and washer. Note: When installing the new pin, the taper pin bore must be cleaned with degreaser to remove grease of protective coatings. The bore of the swing casting and the taper of the pin must be cleaned with isopropyl alcohol prior to assembly. Apply 185-3998 High Strength Threadlock to the threads on the pin prior to installing the nut. Tighten the lower swing frame pin nut to a torque of 1250 +/- 135 N.m (922 +/- 100 lb ft). |
With the new hardware fitted, start the machine and remove the swing lock pin. To ensure the taper is seated correctly, the hoe must be worked for a short time and then the nut re-torqued. The following procedure should be followed: 1. Lift the boom and stick off the ground. Cycle the swing cylinders 10 times without hitting the swing casting. 2. Cycle the stick cylinder 10 times. 3. Cycle the boom cylinder 10 times. Cycle the boom cylinder though the snubber when raising the boom. Re-install the swing lock pin. Lower the implements to the ground and stop the engine. Re-tighten the lower swing frame lock pin nut to a torque of 1250 +/- 135 N.m (922 +/- 100 lb ft). Note: The swing frame lock pin must be installed when applying torque to the nut. |
