This Program must be administered either before or after failure. In either case the decision whether to apply the Program is made by the dealer. When reporting the repair, use "PS42483" as the Part Number and "7755" as the Group Number. If administered before failure, use "56" as the Warranty Claim Description Code and "T" as the SIMS Description code. If administered after failure, use "96" as the Warranty Claim Description Code, and "Z" as the SIMS Description Code.

The existing 278-1170 (420E) or 305-3269 (430E) Hose for the stick cylinder head end can be damaged due to interference with the 142-1072 (420E) or 8Y-7751 (430E) Hose for the boom cylinder rod end on certain 420E and 430E Backhoe Loaders. If the existing boom cylinder rod end hose is not rerouted to clear the the stick cylinder head end hose, the stick cylinder hose can fail.

Refer to the attached Rework Procedure.

Before failure: If the stick cylinder head end hose is clear of the boom cylinder rod end hose and no wear is evident, use "56" as the Warranty Claim Description Code and "T" as the SIMS Description Code.

After failure: If the stick cylinder head end hose is rubbing the boom cylinder rod end hose and needs to be reoriented and/or replaced, use "96" as the Warranty Claim Description Code and "Z" as the SIMS Description Code.

PARTS DISPOSITION

Handle the parts in accordance with your Warranty Bulletin on warranty parts handling.

Rework Procedure

1) Place the backhoe in the position shown.

2) Identify the appropriate hoses and determine if the hoses are rubbing in the area shown.

3) If the hoses are rubbing, reposition the boom cylinder rod end hose assembly to eliminate interference with the stick cylinder head end hose assembly using the following steps.

Note: If the stick cylinder head end hose assembly is damaged, replace the hose assembly. The stick cylinder hose assemblies are buildable.

4) Reorient the tube clip on the boom cylinder (as shown) to provide adequate clearance between the hoses. If necessary, the tube can be repositioned in the small clip to provide additional clearance.
