PROBLEM
Show/hide table
The swing drive bolts (7X-2576) need to be inspected to ensure a satisfactory static torque reading on certain 345C Excavators. If the bolts do not meet the required value of 800 Nm, the swing drive will not be properly secured to the frame and may cause damage to the swing drive and swing bearing. |

ACTION REQUIRED
Show/hide table
The swing drive bolts (7X-2576) that secure the swing drive to the frame need to be tested to ensure a satisfactory static torque reading of 800 Nm per bolt. Depending on the configuration of the machine, hose obstructions may make some bolts physically unable to test. Each bolt that provides adequate room for tooling needs to be tested. It has been verified that at least nine bolts can be tested under the most obstructed configuration that is offered. These bolts have been highlighted on the image below. |

Use the inspection procedure defined below to complete the validation process: Visually inspect for signs of relative motion, hole elongation, bolts backing out, or swing drive movement. Make note of the results. Mark the bolt heads and the flange. Using at least a 1.5 meter (approximately 5 feet) extension, place the socket head over every accessible bolt, one at a time, and pull static inspection torque to 800 Nm. If there is not a long enough extension available, use two extensions together (as shown below) to meet the required clearance. |

Image1.1.1 |
When pulling the torque, it is recommended to pull the socket in the direction that makes the extension lean towards the swing drive rather than away from it. This can be accomplished by standing on the opposite side of the bolt that is being tested when checking the torque value. |

A bolt is considered satisfactory if it does not move during this testing and therefore has been installed correctly to 800 Nm. If none of the bolts move, the swing drive is considered satisfactory and the inspection process is complete. If one or more of the bolts moves, further investigation will be required. In any outcome, contact the service engineer listed below with the results of the inspection.
