This Program must be administered either before or after failure. In either case the decision whether to apply the Program is made by the dealer. When reporting the repair, use "PS42580" as the Part Number and "7755" as the Group Number. If administered before failure, use "56" as the Warranty Claim Description Code and "T" as the SIMS Description code. If administered after failure, use "96" as the Warranty Claim Description Code, and "Z" as the SIMS Description Code.

The swing drive lower bearing may fail on certain 320C and 320D Excavators when operating in severe applications like bunching, logging, felling, stockpiling with large buckets etc, compounded by maneuvering the machine in restricted operations with load, when immobilized. The high brake torque generated during such operations generate excessive load on the bearing, causing the swing bearing to fail.

Handle the parts in accordance with your Warranty Bulletin on warranty parts handling.

Rework Procedure

1) Remove the swing motor from the machine. Refer to RENR3826, "Swing Motor ? Remove" for details.
2) Disassemble the swing motor. Refer to RENR3826, "Swing Motor ? Disassemble" for details.
3) Remove 4 Nos. springs (28) identified in Image 1.1.1, from the motor housing. After spring removal, there would be 16 springs, instead of 20 springs.

4) Replace 5I-8625 Bearing (27) in the head identified in Image 1.2.1, if needed.

Note: Clean all parts with suitable cleaning agents thoroughly, before assembly. Apply a light film of hydraulic oil to all components before assembly.

5) Assemble the swing motor. Refer to RENR3826, "Swing Motor ? Assemble" for the details.
6) Remove the swing drive from the machine. Refer to RENR3826, "Swing Drive ? Remove" for details.
7) Disassemble the swing drive. Refer to RENR3826, "Swing Drive ? Disassemble" for details.
8) Replace the above listed parts in the swing drive.
9) Assemble the swing drive. Refer to RENR3826, "Swing Drive ? Assemble" for details.
10) Install the swing drive on to the machine. Refer to RENR3826, "Swing Drive ? Install" for details.
11) Install the swing motor on to the machine. Refer to RENR3826, "Swing Motor ? Install" for details.
