Termination Date

June 30, 1992

Problem

Several excavators have been shipped from the factory with the
possibility of a missing weld during the stabilizer fabrication.
This Service Letter describes how the carbody has to be
reinforced. If the machines are not reinforced soon extensive
repairs will be required later when a failure occurs.

Model
214B Excavators equipped with outriggers are concerned by this
program.

9MF0001 - 285
For the 4 point stabilizers (four outriggers) the reinforcement
was effective with 4CF00308 and 9MF00257.
For the 2 point stabilizers (two outriggers) the reinforcement
plates were added:
- With 4CF00322 and 9MF00253 for the 2 point stabilizer WITH
blade.
- With 4CF00341 and 9MF00286 for the 2 point stabilizer
WITHOUT blade.

Action Required

Weld on the reinforcement plate as indicated on attachment 2 and
3. Two reinforcement plates must be welded on for the 2 point
stabilizers and four (4) plates must be welded on the 4 points
stabilizers.

Service Claim Allowances

0 - 3000 SMU 100% for the parts. The parts are shipped
directly to you. You will be informed when
this is done.
100% on labor selling cost. 3 hours are
needed for the 2 outriggers and 6 hours are
needed for the 4 outriggers.
3001 - 4000 SMU 100% for parts.
50% for the labor selling cost.
4001 - up SMU 0% labor.
The parts have been shipped to you.
Attachments 4 and 5 show the shape of the reinforcement plates
that you received.
