Problem

There have been several instances of cracking at the weld between
the top plate and the side plates of the hydraulic tank. This
problem is the result of poor weld penetration and insufficient
weld material used during fabrication of the tank.

Affected Product

Model Identification Number
214 B 4CF00195 to 466
214 B FT 9MF00092 to 370
213 B 1EJ00157 to 320

unable to define exact unit when fabrication procedure
was changed.

Parts Needed

No parts are required for this rework except for welding rods.

Action Required

Whenever cracks are detected between the top and the side plates
of the hydraulic tank, disassembly of the tank is necessary to
add a welding cord on the inside of the top plate. The complete
repair procedure outlines the steps involved.
NOTE: W A R N I N G
Applying heat to a tank which has held flammable
liquids, even when "empty", can result in the residual
flammable liquid or vapor igniting with explosive
force. This can result in injury or death. DO NOT weld
or flame cut on any tank that has held flammable liquid
without taking the proper precautions.
Please refer to Service Magazine dated July 2, 1990 for
proper instructions BEFORE performing the repair.
