September 29, 1992 COSA Letter No. 5 PRODUCT SUPPORT PROGRAM FOR REPLACING THE MAIN HYDRAULIC PUMP ON CERTAIN 213B & 214B EXCAVATORS 5070 PS0636 NOTE: This program can only be administered after a failure occurs. The decision whether to apply the Program is made by the dealer. When reporting the repair, use "PS0636" as the Part Number, "7755" as the Group Number, and "96" as the Warranty Claim Description Code. NOTE: Each failed pump has to be returned to Eder no later than 15 days after pump replacement by the dealership. - If the factory check shows that the pump failed due to mis-application, improper maintenance or abuse, the PSP will not apply. NOTE: The priority program PI3602 (Service Letter of September 7, 1992 'NEW HYDRAULIC TANK BREATHER NEEDS TO BE INSTALLED ON CERTAIN 213B AND 214B EXCAVATORS') must be carried out beforehand.

Problem
Some main hydraulic pumps of the 213B & 214B may not provide acceptable service life. The reasons are sticking shell bearings or sticking swash plates. HEBE1406

Action Required
1. Make sure the pump has failed due to: - sticking bearing or swash plate due to material bronze coat pealing away. Symptoms: excessive noise and vibrations or a major performance problem (pump cannot be adjusted properly anymore). - broken piston rod (symptom: major performance problem). 2. Remove the failed pump: - If the failed pump is a AVSpare 8U0691 number, then order a 8U9078 pump at your Parts Department. - If the failed pump is a AVSpare number 8U2829, then order a 8U9077 pump at your Parts Department. 3. Install the replacement pump 4. Ship the failed pump by cheapest way of return, to: EDER GmbH Fabrikstr. 2 D-8302 MAINBURG Germany Attention: Mr. H. Perschl NOTE: If failed pumps are not returned, related claims will not be credited under this program. Dealers are responsible for record keeping relative to the shipment of the pump (shipping date, means of shipment, Serial Number of the machine, machine SMU reading, etc.).
