3.1. CAN Data Link (Error)
The machine control ECM monitors many functions on the excavator. Certain problems with the machine will not record a diagnostic code, but these problems will display a message on the display area. These problems are described below:
Communication Errors
The monitor communicates with the following components on the machine: Machine ECM, Engine ECM and Switch Panel. If the monitor loses contact with any of these components, the display shows one of the following messages:

Monitor Error

When the monitor has detected a problem with the monitor, the display will show the symbol for an error with the monitor.
CAN Data Link (Error)

When the monitor is unable to communicate on the CAN data link, the display shows the symbol for an error on the CAN data link.
