The quick coupler function provides the operator with a quick method of changing attachments. In order to lock an attachment, the operator will properly align the attachment. The request for quick coupler lock is selected from the quick coupler menu in the Monitor. When a quick coupler lock request is received over the CAN data link, the ECM will de-energize the quick coupler solenoid in order to lock the attachment in place. As the hydraulic pressure increases, a warning level 1 event will become active until the quick coupler pressure switch closes. The quick coupler pressure switch will close when the pressure reaches 6000 kPa (870 psi). When the pressure switch closes, the ECM will consider the attachment locked.
If the quick coupler pressure switch opens within 60 seconds after a closing, an active warning level 3 event is generated and logged. The Monitor will display a "LOW QUICK COUPLER PRESSURE" message.
The ECM will continue to monitor the quick coupler pressure switch. If the switch unexpectedly opens after 60 seconds has passed, a warning level 2 event will be generated. The Monitor will display a "LOW QUICK COUPLER PRESSURE" message.
The quick coupler function is deactivated via a command from the menu on the monitor. The ECM will energize the quick coupler solenoid in order to release the hydraulic pressure. As the hydraulic pressure decreases, a level 1 event will be generated until the quick coupler pressure switch has opened. When the quick coupler pressure switch opens, the ECM will consider the attachment unlocked and the Monitor will display a "QUICK COUPLER UNLOCK" message. When the quick coupler pressure switch is open, the pressure will be lower than 6000 kPa (870 psi).
If the quick coupler pressure switch is closed when there is no command to lock the quick coupler, a warning level 3 event will be generated. The Monitor will display a "HIGH QUICK COUPLER PRESSURE" message.
The quick coupler function can be installed or uninstalled through the Cat ET configuration screen.
