5230B Excavator Machine Electronic Control System Automatic Engine Speed Control Function Caterpillar

Automatic Engine Speed Control Function
`

The Automatic Engine Speed Control (AESC) provides an indication when none of the functions that are listed below are active:

  • Swing

  • Travel

  • Implement

  • Bucket (Front Shovel)

The input and outputs in Table 1 are used in order to determine the status.

Table 1
Input and Output     Status     Description
Pressure Switch (Swing)     Open     The swing is requested.
Pressure Switch (Swing )     Closed     The swing is not requested.
Pressure Switch (Travel)     Open     The travel is not requested.
Pressure Switch (Travel)     Closed     The travel is requested.
Pressure Switch (Implement)     Open     The boom, the bucket, or the stick function is requested.
Pressure Switch (Implement)     Closed     The boom, the bucket, and stick function is not requested.
Switch (Bottom Dump Open) (1)     Open     The "bottom dump open" function for the bucket is not requested.
Switch (Bottom Dump Open) (1)     Closed     The "bottom dump open" function for the bucket is requested.
Switch (Bottom Close Dump) (1)     Open     The "bottom dump close" function for the bucket is not requested.
Switch (Bottom Close Dump) (1)     Closed     The "bottom dump close" function for the bucket is requested.
AESC Control Line     High     Any hydraulic function is requested.
AESC Control Line     Low     No hydraulic function is requested.

If none of the ECM inputs indicate a hydraulic request, the output will be in a low state. The AESC enable switch is not used to control the output, but the switch is used by the engine ECM. This information is used by the engine ECM. If any of the ECM inputs indicate a hydraulic request, the output will be in a high state. If the control is in a high state, the engine will resume the speed that is required by the throttle switch.
