UNDERCARRIAGE WORKS AND WEARS PROGRAM NOW AVAILABLE ON INFOCAST
A version of Undercarriage Works and Wears is now available on the Infocast ?Undercarriage Web-site?. Works and Wears is a software program designed to help PSSRs explain to customers conditions for wear, track tension, environmental effects on wear and features of Cat? Undercarriage types.
This IRM covers the following:
? Using the ?Build Up? and ?Build Up Information? Sections
? Features and benefits of the Oval and Elevated wear simulation
? Using Works and Wears Live from Infocast
? Downloading Works and Wears from Infocast
? Reference and Promotional Material

Build Up and Information
The Build Up section provides a simulation showing the assembly of conventional AVSpare? Undercarriage. In addition to the simulation, in the Build Up / Information section, there are four subsections which help a PSSR explain wear. As shown in the picture on the right the four sections are:
? Areas for Wear
? Conditions for Wear
? Pitch
? Types of Track
Each of these sections gives a PSSR visual aides explaining how and why undercarriage will wear. For example the Conditions for Wear section uses images to explain the three key components for undercarriage wear; contact, load, and relative motion. PSSRs should use these sections as a prerequisite to the track simulations to increase customer?s comprehension of the simulation.
Oval / Elevated Wear Simulation
The Wear Simulation sections are moving simulations, which begin by showing the optimum situation to minimize undercarriage wear. The simulation has modifiable settings including:
? New Undercarriage Wear
? Worn Undercarriage Wear
? Packing Conditions
? Forward and Reverse
? Relative Motion Markers
? Point of Contact Identifier
These settings allow your customers to see the effects on undercarriage as it becomes worn or if packing conditions exist. For example, running the simulation in forward and reverse with the Point of Contact Identifier turned-on, will show the effects running in reverse has on conventional undercarriage wear. You can also change the type of undercarriage from the conventional fixed bushing type to a rotating bushing (used in Rotating Bushing and SystemOne? undercarriage). This allows you to show your customer why life can be extended by eliminating relative motion.

Summary
With Undercarriage Works and Wears demonstrating undercarriage wear on the different types of Cat undercarriage is simple and easy. The Build Up and Build Up Information sections provide pictures and definitions of the proponents to undercarriage wear. These definitions along with the modifiable Oval Wear and Elevated Wear Simulations are a selling tool PSSRs shouldn?t be without.
