D10 IMPROVED THRUST RING DESIGN
An improved D10 Thrust Ring is now available
through the parts system. It will also be used in the assembly of new track link
assemblies.
All D10T/R/N/L models will
make use of the improved thrust ring.
Improved oil flow, reduced
hard particles, and oil impregnation help reduce link counterbore wear, and
therefore improve track service life.
Thrust Ring Changes
Several changes have been
implemented to address the issue of link counterbore wear.
-
Deeper oil grooves to improve oil flow to
face.
-
Oil grooves have a small radius blend onto
face of ring.
-
Oil grooves are offset 90 degrees from one
face to the other.
-
Material has additional temper to soften
hard particles.
-
Ring is oil impregnated to fill powdered
metal pores with oil so oil is available in pores to lubricate the faces.
A running change has been
implemented for existing track link assemblies and track groups. The effective
date is identified by build serial number starting with:
Track Link Assembly PL004-H20 &
up

Recommended Service Practices (Improved Thrust Rings)
At track Disassembly & Assembly (?Bushing Turn?), rinse the thrust rings with
clean stanisol and air dry. This allows the polypropylene facing to adhere to
the oil impregnated rings. The polypropylene facing on both faces of both thrust
rings assures track joint is free to rotate after assembly.
Recommended Service Practices (Former Thrust Rings)
At track Disassembly & Assembly, if the former thrust rings are causing no wear
in to the track link, reuse the former rings. If the former thrust rings are
wearing into the link, replace the thrust ring with the improved ring. Refer to
the Undercarriage Guideline for Reusable Parts (SEBF8558) to decide reusability
of other parts.
