AVS REMAN ANNOUNCES THE RELEASE OF TURBOCHARGERS & CARTRIDGES FOR CERTAIN 3500 & 3600 ENGINES, AN UPDATE TO THE ASSOCIATED CORE ACCEPTANCE CRITERIA, AND THE TRANSITION OF PPC 267 PARTS TO MAJOR COMPONENTS.

Announcement

Cat Reman announces the release of turbochargers and cartridges for certain 3500 and 3600 engines (typically known as ABB designed turbos and cartridges). Please see the "Part Number Detail" section of this document for a listing of part numbers.

Core Acceptance Criteria Update

SELD0124 "Core Acceptance Criteria for Turbochargers & Cartridges for 3500/3600 Engines (PPC 267 only)" has been significantly changed in order to reflect the Level 1, Level 2, and Level 3 pricing strategy and ensure the ability to visually inspect. Please note these turbos can weigh up to 1,000 pounds and may require special equipment to lift in order to perform the inspection.

Following are some highlights of the new criteria:

  • Visual inspection ? no disassembly required
  • Partial credit for one wheel damaged or wheel assembly does not rotate freely
  • Add charge for missing, damaged, or non-genuine sub-assemblies

PPC 267 Transition to Major Component

Effective July 1, 2011 all parts in the PPC 267 will be transitioned to Major Component status including part numbers released prior to 2011. The purpose of this change is to discourage dealer stocking of these turbochargers and cartridges, ensure rapid return of cores to sustain the remanufacturing program, and support availability of this product for all customers. In order to prevent entitlements from future purchases from attritioning before previous entitlements are consumed, existing open entitlements for PPC 267 parts will have the attrition date reset to reflect the major component entitlement period applicable for the dealer?s region on July 1st. For example: in regions where the major component entitlement period is 6 months existing open entitlements will be reset with an attrition date of January 1, 2012. Availability

The above parts may be on initial seed support. For parts on initial seed support ANTARESSM may show "0" on-hand quantity for the Reman part number, however, orders for Reman will be filled with the new part equivalent. When Reman is the preferred option always order under the Reman part number regardless of what the system shows for on-hand. As long as the new equivalent part number has on-hand available the Reman order will be filled. For more details on the Reman seed policy please refer to the "Reman Parts Availability & Seeding Policy" information release memo, PELJ0816-01.
