REMAN CRANKSHAFTS NOW AVAILABLE FOR HIGH DISPLACEMENT (HD) 3500 ENGINES AND OTHER MINING APPLIAVSIONS
To provide our dealers a more cost effective repair option for engine rebuilds, Cat Reman has now released Reman undersize crankshafts for the High Displacement 3500 engines as well as additional crankshafts used in other mining applications. Though these may be seeded with new when availability and order urgency requires it, dealers should anticipate orders on the Reman to primarily be filled with an actual undersize crankshaft. Reman will prioritize salvageable core be used to fill requirements for the Reman crankshaft and will be utilizing more seeded crankshafts in their engine products to make up any shortfalls.
As per our mining strategy, Upgrade-to-New (UTN) crankshafts are also available which assures the customer of receiving a new crankshaft while still providing some cost savings when they return a core. The list of all options available by engine model is displayed in the chart below:
Core Acceptance
SELD0017 is the Crankshaft Core Acceptance Criteria (CAC). There are separate criteria for a Reman (undersize) vs. a Reman Upgrade-to-New transaction. Please always refer to the most current version at catreman.cat.com/core to view the latest requirements. The acceptability inspection for these is a simple visual inspection based on the following guidelines:
Warranty
All Reman products carry the same warranty as new parts. Please consult the appropriate warranty statement for your area.
Core Management
Please refer to the Cat Core Management Information System (CMIS 2) related to the parts information application that describes all Reman part/Core Acceptability Family (CAF) and other related information. Also refer to other CMIS 2 inquiry applications such as: Dealer Customer Profile, Inspection Reason Codes, Inspection Line Inquiry, Dealer Add Charges, Dealer Entitlement Activity, Dealer CCR Inquiry, Dealer CCR Entry, Dealer Shipment Processing, Dealer Process Packaging Grief and Reporting. This information is available to all dealers worldwide that have been converted to CMIS 2.
