GREASE LUBRIAVSED LINK ASSEMBLIES FOR HYDRAULIC EXCAVATORS

Grease lubricated track link assemblies are now available in the parts system for 307, 311, 312, 315, 317, 318, 320 and 322 Hydraulic Excavators.  These link assemblies are direct replacement for the former sealed link assemblies used on these models.  Known as GLT, the new grease lubricated link assembly has two Poly-W seals in each track joint to retain the grease.  (See GLT Cross Section.)  The seal name is derived from it?s material, polyurethane, and cross sectional ?W? shape.

The grease lubricated track link assemblies for the 315 through 322 Excavators have a larger outer bushing diameter (2mm step) for additional wear life.  The current sprocket segment can be used with the larger bushing diameter.

These improvements will provide an additional 1200 hours, or more, of undercarriage life for most Hydraulic Excavator applications.

                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                     GLT Cross Section

Features and Benefits

                        Features                                                                       Benefits

?         Internally greased pin and bushing with seal

?         Improved replacement for sealed link assemblies. Minimum 25% increase in internal wear life (less pin and bushing wear).

?         Additional 1200 SMR before signs of wear or evidence of lubricant loss.

?         Reduce undercarriage noise.

?         Reduces potential for frozen track joints.

?         More usable horsepower because of less internal friction.

?         Larger bushing (2mm diameter) (Only 315-322 machines)

?         Minimum of 20% increase in external bushing wear life.

?         Greased pin and larger bushing combined

?         Improves balance in component wear life.

?         Extends undercarriage system life by 25-30%.

?         Improved sprocket wear because system stays matched longer.

Adaptability

GLT link assemblies will fit earlier Hydraulic Excavators models of the same pitch size.  Also, GLT is being developed for models not listed and some are expected to be in production, later this year.

Servicing

When performing service on the grease lubricated track link assemblies (turning pin and bushing, replacing components) refer to Undercarriage Reconditioning Bulletin Media No. SEBF8598, dated February 2001.

Custom Track Service (CTS)

When performing CTS on 307B through 312B machines, refer to the 14th Edition of the CTS handbook (Media Number PEKP9400-02).  For 315B through 322B machines with increased bushing diameter see wear chart on Attachment I.

Summary

GLT, grease lubricated, link assemblies offer a significant wear life and cost/hour advantage over comparable sealed link assemblies.
