NEW D10R, D9R, D8R, & 583R PIPELAYER TRACK ROLLER GROUPS WITH IMPROVED RETAINER BOLT RETENTION

With the introduction of the roller groups with symmetric Duo-Cone^? seals on the above models, retainer bolt retention was a concern in some applications.  The new roller groups (with a longer retainer bolt and new roller shell with a deeper counter bore) are now available in the parts system.  The former roller groups are being canceled and replaced by the new roller groups.  With the new roller design the current track roller shaft, retainers, collars, thrust washers, and Duo-Cone seal groups are being used.  The former roller shell is being canceled and replaced by the new roller shell and longer retainer bolts.  See Attachment I for new and former roller group part number information.

Adaptability

The new roller groups are directly interchangeable at the group level with the former roller groups and can be used on earlier built 583R Pipelayers, ?R? & ?N? series machines.  The new roller groups were effective on factory built machines with the following serial numbers:

Servicing

The former roller shells are being serviced by a new roller shell and longer retainer bolts.  CAUTION!  Longer retainer bolts are required with the new roller shell.  For additional information refer to Service Magazine, dated April 16, 2001.  Refer to the following Special Instructions as guidance for assembly, installations, tools and specification charts:

Mounting the new roller groups to the track roller frame is the same as with the former roller groups.

Custom Track Service
When performing Custom Track Service (CTS), refer to wear charts found in the CTS Handbook, 14^th Edition (Media Number PEK9400-02).
