D6 ELEVATED/OVAL TTT AND 527 SKIDDERS, REDESIGNED MODERATE SERVICE TRACK SHOE (SINGLE GROUSER)
The current moderate service D6 / 527 track shoes (single grouser) have been redesigned to provide longer curved leading edge and thicker curved trailing edge. As track shoe trailing and leading edges wear (high abrasive applications), shoes have a tendency to cross over each other. This can cause high loading in the track joints. The redesigned shoes extends shoe edge life, and reduces shoe cross over which can improve track joint integrity. See comparison of (new and former) track shoe cross sections on the following page.

q New track shoe part numbers available approximately October 2000,
q Track shoes retaining their current part numbers available approximately April 2001.
Servicing
The new and old track shoes are interchangeable and can be mixed on machines in the field.
Custom Track Service (CTS)
Part of CTS for track shoes should include inspection for shoe leading and trailing edge wear, and indications of shoe crossing (See Illustration A). This is most prevalent in high abrasive underfoot conditions. Shoes positioned over the idlers or sprocket can best identify shoe crossing.

When performing CTS use the current wear charts for the moderate service shoes in the 14th Edition of CTS Handbook (Media Number PEKP9400-02).
