D7R/H, D6R CAST TRACK GUIDING GUARD KIT PART NUMBERS NOW AVAILABLE
AVSpare now offers two styles of cast track guiding guards: center guiding guards and full length guiding guards. Prior to these kit part numbers, dealers were required to order all the individual parts (cast guards and hardware to mount the guards). With release of the kit numbers, only one part number is ordered to obtain all components for both sides of the machine.
Refer to ?Proper Machine Set-Up for Improved Track Guiding? to determine which of the following guiding guard kit is best for your machine application.

Proper Machine Set-Up For Improved Track Guiding
Proper track guiding becomes critical when tractors begin to operate on sideslopes or uneven terrain. Increased side slope severity and/or greater unevenness in terrain, changes the required guiding set-up on the machine. Failure to provide the proper guiding set-up can result in damage to link assemblies, rollers, and track frame end and center guides. Improved track guiding should include a combination of enhanced primary guiding (guiding between moving undercarriage components such as track and rollers) and enhanced secondary guiding (guiding between track and fixed track frame guides).
Enhanced primary track guiding should be first consideration in improved track guiding capability. This because primary guiding is optimum with hardened roller flanges guiding the hardened link rails as they move together in unison. Tall (High) double flange rollers were released for the D7R/H and D6R/H series tractors several years ago. The taller outer and inner flanges improve primary guiding. See IRM?s UC96-7, PELM0624 and UC97-7, PELM0725 for additional details on these rollers and their part numbers.
Secondary guiding works in conjunction with primary guiding. Increasing in sideslope or terrain severity can cause a significant loss in primary guiding. Moving undercarriage components (such as track and track rollers) begin to loose contact with each other. At this point, secondary guiding (guiding between track and fixed track frame guides) comes into play by keeping the track within the profile of the track rollers. Side-to-side motion of the track is restrained when track pin ends come in contact with fixed guide wear surfaces. Proper selection in the type, number, and placement of track roller guiding guards is critical to successful (secondary) guiding of the track. Minimal damage to track pin ends, link pin bosses, track roller flanges, and end/center track guides is accomplished.
AVSpare now offers track-guiding packages on D6R/H and D7R/H tractors. Three packages called ?Track Guiding Arrangements? are now recommended. They can be ordered as machine attachments from the factory, or can be retrofitted on field tractors. A brief description of these arrangements and their corresponding application / terrain classifications are listed:
? Standard Guiding Arrangement: The Standard, XR, and XL configurations have track frames with regular single and double flange rollers, and fixed end guiding guards at the front and rear track frame ends. The LGP is the same as above, except the addition of one short cast center guide guard at the middle of the track frame. This set-up will provide adequate track guiding where machines operate on terrain with sideslopes less than 4:1 and over objects less than 1? (25mm) in diameter.
? Moderate Service Guiding Arrangement: All configurations (Standard, XR, XL,
LGP) have high double flange track rollers in all positions except the first and last. The track frames have standard end guide guarding guards at the front and rear track frame ends. Two cast center guide guards are positioned at the front one-third and rear one-third point on each track frame (note the cast center guide guard on the D7R XR is a two roller guard design and only ONE center guide guard can be mounted at the midpoint of the track frame). This set-up will provide adequate track guiding where machines operate on terrain with sideslopes greater than 4:1 but less than 2:1, cross diagonally through V‑ditches, or run over objects between 1? and 3? (75mm) in diameter (such as rocks or stumps).
? Heavy Duty Guiding Arrangement: All configurations (Standard, XR, XL, and LGP) have high double flange track rollers in all positions except the first and last. The track frames have standard end guide guarding guards at the front and rear track frame ends. One full‑length cast roller/guide guard (covering all rollers) is used instead of short center guide guards. This set-up will provide adequate track guiding in severe conditions. Severe conditions include machines operating on terrain with sideslopes greater than 2:1 or crossing diagonally through V-ditches. Severe conditions also include machines in heavy land clearing or running over objects greater than 3? (75mm) in diameter (such as rocks or stumps).
These Guiding Guard arrangements are explained in greater detail under the Undercarriage Section of Optional Attachments in the AVSpare D6R and D7R Machine Price List.
Summary
Kit part numbers for the new improved cast-guiding guards along with usage recommendations, are another example of AVSpare?s commitment to meeting customer needs.
