Introduction

The performance level of the cylinders and the hydraulic oil flow through the system to the implements can be determined by the following procedure.

Note: The engine speed and/or the machine configuration that is used during this test can affect the results of this test. Refer to Testing and Adjusting, "Engine Performance - Test (Engine Speed)" for the engine speed that was used for this test. Refer to Testing and Adjusting, "Operational Checks" for the machine configurations that were used for this test.

Note: The relief valve pressure settings must be set to the relief valve pressure specification before performing this operational check. Refer to Testing and Adjusting, "Specifications".

Note: Work tools must be removed for this test.

Test Procedure

  1. Perform the following steps to test the operating speed of the boom cylinders.

      Illustration 1g06072721
      (A) Extension test
      (B) Retraction test

    1. Place the machine on level ground.

    2. Fully extend the stick cylinder.

    3. Fully retract the boom cylinders. With a stopwatch, measure the time that is required to fully extend the boom cylinders.

    4. Position the boom cylinders at full extension. With a stopwatch, measure the time that is required for the boom cylinders to fully retract.

    5. Refer to the specifications in Table 1 for the operating speed of the boom cylinders.

  2. Perform the following steps to test the operating speed of the stick cylinder.

      (A) Extension test
      (B) Retraction test

    1. Place the machine on level ground.

    2. Position the upper surface of the boom parallel to the ground.

    3. Retract the stick cylinder. With a stopwatch, measure the time that is required to fully extend the stick cylinder.

    4. Extend the stick cylinder. With a stopwatch, measure the time that is required to fully retract the stick cylinder.

    5. Refer to the specifications in Table 1 for the operating speed of the stick cylinder.

  3. Perform the following steps to test the operating speed of the heel cylinder.

      Illustration 3g01405224
      (A) Extension test
      (B) Retraction test

    1. Place the machine on level ground.

    2. Position the grapple against the heel. Close the grapple.

    3. Fully retract the stick cylinder.

    4. With a stopwatch, measure the time that is required to fully extend the heel cylinder.

    5. Position the heel cylinder a full extension.

    6. With a stopwatch, measure the time that is required to fully retract the heel cylinder.

    7. Refer to the specifications in Table 1 for the operating speed of the heel cylinder.
