Operation

The service codes for the hydraulic hammer are in the following list: 86, 87, 88 and 8A. The service codes are used in order to adjust the main hydraulic pump flow. The flow is adjusted in order to correspond with the flow that is required for a hydraulic hammer. Three different parameters can be set and stored into the memory of the controller. The parameters are in the following list:

  • Number of Main Hydraulic Pumps

  • Circuit Pressure of the Hydraulic Hammer

  • Pump Flow that is Required

Use the following procedure in order to enter the hammer mode.

  1. Depress user mode button (5) .

  1. Select the "U2" mode.

When the hammer circuit attachment is activated, the controller regulates the power shift pressure. The power shift pressure is regulated in order to regulate the main pump(s). This ensures that the flow requirements and/or the pressure requirements for the hammer or for other attachments are not exceeded.

The parameters that are set in the user mode will only affect the operation of the main pump, when the hammer pedal is activated individually. When the position of the engine speed dial is changed, the controller automatically changes the power shift pressure. This ensures that the flow rate of the pump(s) are changed in order to compensate for the engine speed changes.

Modes

Mode "U1" is the tamping mode. This mode is set at the factory. The tamping mode can not be adjusted.

Mode "U2" is the hammer mode. This mode can be selected and adjusted by the operator and the service technician.

Mode "U3" is the user mode. This mode allows the user to adjust various parameters. Access to the service mode is not necessary.

Setting the Parameters of the Hammer Mode

Hammer Mode

The hammer mode is used for attachments. Excavating requires more flow of oil than the operation of an attachment. When an attachment is operated, the power shift pressure is kept constant. The constant pressure is preset.

The flow rates for one pump are in the following list:

  • When the pressure is 13.6 MPa (1972.5 psi), the flow is a maximum of 313 L/min (83 US gpm).

  • When the pressure is less than 13.6 MPa (1972.5 psi), the flow is a minimum of 142 L/min (38 US gpm).

Note: The flow rates are measured at the rated speed of the engine.

Hammer Mode Preset

When a hydraulic hammer is used, select the "U2" mode. If the other work modes are selected, the maximum pump flow will be sent to the hammer. Maximum flow will damage the hammer. In order to avoid damage, a security code is available. Changing the setting of the software will ensure that the correct flow of oil is sent to the hammer when the hammer pedal is activated. This is accomplished regardless of the work mode that is selected. The following procedure is used in order to set the preset for the hammer mode.

Note: The default value of the preset is "OFF".

  1. Access the service mode.

    1. Depress travel alarm cancel switch (3). Hold switch (5) and depress fine control mode switch (4) and user mode switch (5) .

    1. Hold the three switches for a minimum of 2 seconds. The character display will indicate "0". The character on the left side of the display will flash.

  1. Enter service code 080251.

  1. When the indicators "10" or "80" appear in the monitor, enter the new service code "89" on the character display.

  1. Depress fine control mode switch (5) in order to shift the blinking character. Position the blinking character to the left position.

  1. Depress boom priority mode switch (1) in order to display "89oN" or "89oF".

When the character display indicates "89oN", hammer mode is activated when the hammer pedal is pushed under any work mode. This allows the preset pump flow to be sent to the hammer.

When the character display indicates "89oF", hammer mode is not activated when the hammer pedal is pushed. This allows the maximum pump flow to be sent to the hammer.

  1. Enter "89oN" on the character display.

  1. Set the new value for the AEC.

    1. Depress travel alarm cancel switch (3) in order to set the new values.

When the new value is set, the position of the blinking character does not change. The service code flashes.

Procedure to Set the Parameters for the Hammer Mode

  1. Verify the specification of the hammer.

When the hammer requires a maximum pump flow of 250 L/min (66 US gpm), use one pump to supply the flow.

  1. Set the number of pumps that are used. Refer to "Setting the Number of Pumps".

  1. Set the pressure for the hammer mode. Refer to "Setting the Circuit Pressure".

  1. Set the pump flow for the hammer mode. Refer to "Setting the Pump Flow".

If the desired speed of the hammer is not achieved, the flow rate can be adjusted. This is due to the imbalance of the associated components. When you increase the flow rate, the speed of the hammer decreases. If the speed of the hammer does not change, service the hydraulic system.

Setting the Number of Pumps

Service code 86 changes the number of pumps that is used in the calculation for the power shift between the pumps.

  1. Enter service code 86.

The number of pumps that are used by the hammer mode is displayed.

    • "861" indicates that 1 pump is selected.

    • "861" indicates that 2 pumps are selected.

  1. Depress fine control mode switch (4) in order to shift the blinking character. Position the blinking character to the position on the right.

  1. Depress boom priority mode switch (1) in order to change the number of pumps from 1 to 2.

  1. Depress swing priority mode switch (2) in order to change the number of pumps from 2 to 1.

  1. Set the new value for the AEC.
