VT-30, VT-40, VT-50 and VT-60 Multi-Processors Hydraulic System Air - Purge Caterpillar

Hydraulic System Air - Purge
`

------ WARNING! ------

At operating temperature, the hydraulic oil is hot and under pressure. Hot oils can cause burns.

To prevent possible personal injury, release the pressure in the work tool hydraulic circuit (boom, stick, bucket, and swing), travel circuits, and the hydraulic oil tank at the filler cap before any hydraulic lines or components are disconnected or removed.

Remove the filler cap only when the engine is stopped and the filler cap is cool enough to touch.

NOTICE

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the machine. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.

Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations.

NOTICE

Purge the hydraulic system of the Multi-Processor after work has been completed. If there is air in the hydraulic system under pressure, the oil can spontaneously ignite. Failure to purge the hydraulic system will result in damage to the work tool.

  1. Check the oil level in the host machine.

  1. Slowly close the jaws. Once the jaws are closed, open the valve and allow oil to flow through valve (1) for approximately 30 seconds. Rotate the valve counterclockwise in order to open the valve. After 30 seconds, close the valve. Use 170-5603 Key to turn the valve.

  1. Slowly open the jaws. Once the jaws are open, open the valve and allow the oil to flow through the valve for approximately 30 seconds. After 30 seconds, close the valve.

  1. Recheck the oil level in the host machine.
