The Cat® Electronic Technician (Cat ET) Service tool

The Cat® Electronic Technician (Cat ET) Service Tool is a software program that is used to access data. The service technician will use the Cat ET in order to perform the maintenance on the vehicle. Some of the options that are available with the Cat ET are listed below:
- Diagnosis of problems
- Viewing diagnostic trouble codes
- Viewing active event codes and logged event codes
- View the status of parameters.
- Clear active diagnostic trouble codes and clear logged diagnostic trouble codes
- Perform calibration of machine systems.
- Program the ECM (Flash). Flashing the ECM is done with the "WINflash" program. See Troubleshooting, "Electronic Control Module (ECM) - Flash Program".
- Print reports.

When the ECM activates a diagnostic code, the active codes can be viewed by selecting "Diagnostics" from the menus bar and then selecting "Active Diag. Codes".
To troubleshoot the cause of the active code, refer to the diagnostic code procedure for the code that is listed. The procedures are specific to the FMI condition for the code that has been activated. Perform the procedure to aid in finding the circuit condition that is causing the problem.
