Start By:
- Remove the bucket.
- Rotate the upper structure until the upper structure is at 90 degrees to the undercarriage frame.
- Drain the final drives into a suitable container.

Illustration 1 g02610897 Show/hide tableIllustration 2 g02610898 - Remove two bolts (1) and install Tooling (A), as shown. Remove remaining bolts (1). Tighten forcing screws (3) to remove cover (2) from the final drive. Remove cover (2) while holding the ring gear against the sprocket housing.

Without the sun gear in place, the brakes are ineffective. Personal injury or death could result. Provide other means to hold or stop the machine.
