Start By:

  1. Remove the bucket.

  2. Rotate the upper structure until the upper structure is at 90 degrees to the undercarriage frame.

  1. Drain the final drives into a suitable container.

  2. Remove two bolts (1) and install Tooling (A), as shown. Remove remaining bolts (1). Tighten forcing screws (3) to remove cover (2) from the final drive. Remove cover (2) while holding the ring gear against the sprocket housing.

    ------ WARNING! ------

    Without the sun gear in place, the brakes are ineffective. Personal injury or death could result. Provide other means to hold or stop the machine.

  3. Place bolt (1) in the ring gear to hold in position, as shown. Remove sun gear (4).

  4. Apply Tooling (B) onto the cover (2). Install cover (2) and bolts (1). Refill with oil for towing. Repeat procedure for the opposite final drive.

  5. Position stick (6) on Tooling (C), as shown. Ensure the eye Dimension (X) of pin hole from the stick (6) is level with the bottom of the frame (5) to enable level lifting.

  6. Disconnect hose assembly (9). Remove bolts (11) and plate (10). Attach a suitable lifting device to cylinder (12). The weight of boom cylinder (12) is approximately 181 kg (400 lb). Slide pin (13) toward the boom to reposition boom cylinder (12).

  7. Lower boom cylinder (12) onto Tooling (D). Remove hoses (14). Attach a suitable lifting device to boom cylinder (12). The weight of boom cylinder (12) is approximately 181 kg (400 lb).

  8. Remove pin (15). Remove boom cylinder (12).

  9. Attach a suitable lifting device to Tooling (E). The weight of Tooling (E) is approximately 95 kg (210 lb). Position Tooling (E) as shown. Install pin (13). Position pin (13) and install plate (10).

  10. Remove bracket (16). Remove hoses (17).

  11. Remove hose assemblies (19). Remove fittings (18). Remove clamp (22). Remove retainer (21). Remove boot (20).

    For Tooling (F)

  12. Position Tooling (F) as shown. The weight of upper frame (5) is approximately 10890 kg (24000 lb).

  13. Position Tooling (F1) as shown. The weight of upper frame (5) is approximately 10890 kg (24000 lb). Refer to Tool Operating Manual, NEHS1328, "Lift Groups (Stand - 60 Ton)" for more information on Tooling (F1).

  14. Disconnect tube assembly (23). Remove bolts (24).

  15. Remove bolt (24) and insert Tooling (G). Use identification marks for the connecting procedure.

  16. Raise the machine with Tooling (C). Raise the upper frame (5) in increments of 12.70 mm (0.50 inch) from the back then the front to keep the pinion gear (25) level. Raise the machine until the machine clears the tooling and the swivel gear (25).

  17. Use suitable towing device to pull the undercarriage away from the upper frame assembly.
