GSV520 and GSV525 Orange Peel Grapples Shell Assembly - Remove and Install Caterpillar

Removal Procedure

Start By:

1. Remove the hydraulic cylinder.

1. Attach a suitable lifting device to the head assembly. The weight of the grapple is approximately 2217 kg (4888 lb).

   Note: To prevent instability during the shell removal and installation, support the grapple assembly with a suitable lift stand as shown in Illustration 3.

2. Attach a suitable lifting device to shell assembly (1). The weight of shell assembly (1) is approximately 224 kg (494 lb).

3. Remove nut (2), washer (3), and pin (4). Remove shell assembly (1).

Installation Procedure

1. Install shell assembly (1) in the reverse order of removal.

   1. Coat the bores for pin (4) with Tooling (A).

      Note: Assemble pin (4) with lubricant bore pointing towards the housing.

End by:

a. Install the hydraulic cylinder.
