Disassembly Procedure

Start By:

1. Remove the axle housing, the axle shaft, and the wheel flange from the axle.

2. Remove the final drive planetary from the axle.

1. Remove axle shaft (1). Remove sleeve (3). Use Tooling (B) to remove retaining ring (2) from sleeve (3).

2. Remove axle shaft (4).

3. Remove bolts (6) and washer (5).
   Show/hide table

4. Remove ring gear assembly (7).

5. Remove retaining ring (10). Check the wear conditions of the components.

6. Use bolts (6) to remove carrier (8) from ring gear (7). Remove bushings (9) from carrier (8). Inspect bushings (9), replace if required.

7. Remove wheel flange (11).

   Note: Bearing cone (12) will fall out of wheel flange (11) when wheel flange (11) is removed.

8. Remove seal (16) from wheel flange (11). Use a suitable hammer and a punch to remove bearing cups (13) and (15). Remove O-ring seal (14).

9. Remove spacer (17) and bearing cone (18).

10. If necessary, remove seal (19) and bushing (20).
