1.1. Removal Procedure

Removal Procedure

Start By:

  1. Remove the fan guard. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly Manual, "Fan Guard - Remove and Install".
  2. Remove the fan. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly Manual, "Fan - Remove and Install".

NOTICE

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.

Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

At operating temperature, the engine coolant is hot and under pressure.

Steam can cause personal injury.

Check the coolant level only after the engine has been stopped and the fill cap is cool enough to touch with your bare hand.

Remove the fill cap slowly to relieve pressure.

Cooling system conditioner contains alkali. Avoid contact with the skin and eyes to prevent personal injury.

  1. Remove plate assembly (1) which is located under the radiator.

  1. Drain the coolant from the cooling system into a suitable container for storage or for disposal. Refer to the first six Steps of Operation and Maintenance Manual, SEBU7424-01, "Cooling System Coolant (ELC) - Change" for the procedure to drain the cooling system.

  1. Loosen clamp (2), and remove upper radiator hose (3) from radiator (4) .

  1. Loosen clamp (5), and remove lower radiator hose (6) from the radiator.

  1. Remove the two top mounting bolts from the radiator. Use the bolts to fasten Tooling (A) to the radiator. Attach an appropriate lifting device to Tooling (A). The radiator weighs approximately 57 kg (126 lb).

  1. Remove the bolts, and remove the radiator shroud.

  1. Open left, rear door (7). Swing out hydraulic oil cooler (9) in order to access the radiator. Remove bolts (8) which fasten the radiator to the support. Use the lifting device to remove radiator (10) .
