Start By:

  1. Remove the swing control valve. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Swing Control Valve - Remove".


NOTICE

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.

Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "AVSpare Tools and Shop Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on AVSpare products.

Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

Sudden release of spring force can cause injury.

To prevent the possibility of injury, follow the procedure to relieve the spring pressure.

Note: Prior to disassembly, ensure that the outside of the swing control valve is thoroughly clean and free of foreign material. All components should be marked for identification so the components can be reinstalled in the original location.

  1. Remove bolts (1) and remove cover (2) from each side of the swing control valve.

  1. Remove screw (3) from the swing control valve.

  1. Remove O-ring seal (4) from screw (3). Remove cone (5) from screw (3). Remove spring (6) from cone (5) .

  1. Use two people in order to remove spring assemblies (7) from the swing control valve.

  1. Use a press, Tool (A), and Tool (B) in order to remove the retaining ring from each spring assembly (7).

  1. Remove retainer (8), spring (9), spring (10), and retainer (11) from bolt (12). Repeat for the remaining spring assembly.
