Start By:

  1. Remove the swivel group. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Swivel - Remove ".


NOTICE

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.

Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "AVSpare Tools and Shop Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on AVSpare products.

Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.


  1. Thoroughly clean the outside of the swivel group prior to disassembly.

  1. Place the swivel group on hard wood blocks. Remove bolts (1) and remove cover (2) from housing (3) .

  1. Remove bolts (4) and remove retainer (5) from the rotor. Remove bolts (6) and remove retainer (7) from the rotor.

  1. Remove O-ring seal (8) from the bottom of retainer (7) .

  1. Remove thrust bearing (9),thrust race (10), and O-ring seal (11) from retainer (7) .

  1. Install Tooling (A) and remove housing (3) .

    Note: It will be necessary to use more than one step plate due to the amount of travel in 5F-7366 Screw .

  1. Install Tooling (B) to housing (3) and remove the housing from rotor (12). The weight of housing (3) is 251 kg (550 lb).

  1. Remove seal assemblies (13) from housing (3) .

  1. Remove seal (14) from rotor (12) .
