  1. Drain the engine oil into a suitable container for storage or for disposal. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Engine Oil and Filter - Change".

  2. Drain the cooling system into a suitable container for storage or for disposal. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Cooling System Coolant (ELC) - Change".

  3. Remove bolts (1) and (3).

  4. Disconnect fitting (4) and remove the oil level gauge (2).

  5. Disconnect hose assembly (5).

  6. Disconnect hose assemblies (6).

  7. Remove stud bolts (9). Remove bolts (7) and remove the oil filter base (8).

  8. Remove engine oil cooler (10) and remove the gasket.

    Personal injury can result from being struck by parts propelled by a released spring force.

    Make sure to wear all necessary protective equipment.

    Follow the recommended procedure and use all recommended tooling to release the spring force.


  9. Remove plug (11) and remove spring (12). Remove valve (13) and remove the O-ring seal from oil filter base (8).

  10. Disconnect hose assemblies (14). Use Tooling (A) in order to remove oil filter (15).

  11. Remove plug (19) and remove spring (18). Remove valve (17) and remove the O-ring seal from the remove oil filter base (16).

Installation Procedure

  1. Install engine oil filter base (8) in the reverse order of removal.

      Torque Sequence

    1. Tighten bolts (7) and stud bolts (9) in the numerical sequence that is shown.

    2. Lubricate the seal that is found on the oil filter assembly (1) with clean engine oil. Install the oil filter assembly hand tight. Tighten the oil filter assembly (1). Then, turn three quarters of a turn.
