C6.6 Industrial Engine Temperature Sensor (Cooled Exhaust Gas) - Remove and Install Caterpillar

Removal Procedure

1. Disconnect plastic tube assembly (1) from the valve mechanism cover assembly.

2. Slide locking tab (7) into the unlocked position. Disconnect engine wiring harness assembly (8) from wiring harness assembly (5). Slide the connection for wiring harness assembly (5) from bracket (6).

3. Cut cable straps (2).

4. Remove temperature sensor (4) from the NOx Reduction System (NRS) inlet air control (3).

Installation Procedure

1. Ensure that all components are clean and free from wear and damage. If necessary, replace any components that are worn or damaged.

2. Lightly lubricate the thread of temperature sensor (4) with Tooling (A). Install temperature sensor (4) to NRS inlet air control (3).

3. Tighten temperature sensors (4) to a torque of 24 N·m (212 lb in).

4. Slide the connection for wiring harness assembly (5) onto bracket (6). Connect engine wiring harness assembly (8) to wiring harness assembly (5). Slide locking tab (7) into the locked position.

5. Install new cable straps (2) to harness assembly (5).

   Note: Ensure that cable straps meet the Original Equipment Manufacturer's (OEM) specification.

6. Connect plastic tube assembly (1) to the valve mechanism cover assembly.
