Start By:
- Remove the pilot valve (joystick).
- Remove rubber boot (1).
- Measure Dimension (X) from the top of plate (3) to the top of plate (5). Record Dimension (X) for assembly purposes.
- Tighten nut (2) against plate (3). Remove plate (3), nut (2), and U-joint (4).
Note: If U-joint (4) or plate (3) is not being replaced, do not remove plate (3) from U-joint (4).
- Remove nut (2) from U-joint (4).
- Remove plate (3) from U-joint (4).
- Remove plate (5).

Note: Mark the location of spring seat (11) for assembly purposes.
- Remove plug (7).
- Remove spring seat (11) and spring (10) from rod (9).
- Remove rod (9) from plug (7).
- Remove seal (6) from plug (7).
- Remove O-ring seal (8) from plug (7).

Make sure to wear all necessary protective equipment.
Follow the recommended procedure and use all recommended tooling to release the spring force.
Note: Spool assembly (13) is installed in Port (1) and Port (3) in the pilot valve. Spool assembly (12) is installed in Port (2) and Port (4) in the pilot valve.
- Remove spool assembly (12) and (13). Remove springs (14) and (15).
- Use the following procedure to disassemble spool assembly (12).
- Apply pressure to seat (16) by hand. Put the end of the spool in the slotted opening of seat (16). Remove seat (16), spring (18), and washer (20) from spool (22).
Note: Spool (12) is assembled in Port (2) and Port (4) in the pilot valve.
- Use the following procedure to disassemble spool assembly (13).
Note: Spool (13) is assembled in Port (1) and Port (3) in the pilot valve.
- Apply pressure to seat (17) by hand. Put the end of the spool in the slotted opening of seat (17). Remove seat (17), spring (19), and washer (21) from spool (23).
