  1. Position the machine onto suitable cribbing below the first roller. Ensure that the master pin is above the center line of the sprocket.

  2. Separate the track.

  3. Remove bolts (1) that hold sprocket (2) to the final drive. Reposition sprocket (2) and attach Tooling (A) and a suitable lifting device to sprocket (2). The weight of sprocket (2) is approximately 57 kg (125 lb). Remove sprocket (2).

Installation Procedure

  1. Install sprocket (2) in the reverse order of removal.

    1. Before assembly, remove compound, oil, and dust from female threads, then apply Tooling (B) to threads of bolts (1).

    2. Refer Table 2 for correct torque specification values. Refer to Service Magazine , M0083843 , "An Improved Bolt Tightening Procedure for the Critical Joints Is Now Used on all Excavators" for more detailed information.

      Sales Models  Torque Specification for bolts (1) 
      330D  Tighten to a torque of 150 ± 15 N·m (111 ± 11 lb ft). Turn an additional angle of 40 ± 5 degrees. 
      336D and 340D  Tighten to a torque of 250 ± 25 N·m (184 ± 18 lb ft). Turn an additional angle of 35 ± 5 degrees.
