Start By:

  1. Remove the side hood. Refer to, "Hood - Remove and Install".
  2. Release the system pressure. Refer to, "System Pressure - Release".

Note: Put identification marks on all lines, on all hoses, on all wires, and on all tubes for installation purposes. Plug all lines, hoses, and tubes in order to prevent fluid loss and to keep contaminants from entering the system.


NOTICE

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.

Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat products.

Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.


  1. Drain the hydraulic oil tank into a suitable container for storage or disposal. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Hydraulic System Oil - Change".

  1. Disconnect hose assemblies (1). Remove clamp (2). Disconnect hose assembly (3) and harness assembly (4) .

  1. Disconnect hose assemblies (5), (6), (7), (8), and (9) .

  1. Disconnect hose assemblies (10), (11), and (12) .

  1. Disconnect hose assembly (13) and hose assemblies (14) .

  1. Disconnect hose assemblies (15), (16), and (17) .

  1. Disconnect hose assemblies (18) and (19) .

  1. Attach a suitable lifting device to main control valve (20). The weight of main control valve (20) is approximately 80 kg (175 lb). Remove bolts (21) and main control valve (20) .

  1. Remove bolts (22) and remove bracket (23) from main control valve (20) .
