Description Of Change: Improved electrical grounding is now used on certain 308E2 CR Mini Hydraulic Excavators. A ground strap is added between the cab and operator platform to improve electrical ground reliability.

Improved electrical grounding is effective with and adaptable to the machines in Table 2. Refer to"Installation Procedure" for instructions to install the 8X-5803 Ground Strap.

Installation Procedure

(1) 8X-5803 Ground Strap (2) Bolt (3) Washer

1. Locate and remove two bolts (2) and two washers (3) from harness ring terminals. Move harness ring terminals away from ground boss.

2. Install ground strap (1) with flat side of terminal directly to boss and threaded hole.

3. Reinstall existing harness ring terminals on top of ground strap (1) terminals.

4. Reinstall two washers (3) and two bolts (2) and tighten to 33 ± 4 N·m (24 ± 3 lb ft).

5. Perform "Functional Check".

Functional Check

1. Turn on the dome lamp, work light, wiper motor, and radio (if equipped).

2. Turn on A/C and set blower motor to high speed.

3. Observe cab components turned on in Step 1 for any malfunction. If components function correctly, the installation was successful. If not, review the installation steps.
