  • Service Magazine SEPD0238, 26 December 1994, "Use the Technical Information Feedback Systems". Disregard the article and refer to the following article.

There may be instances when the user of service information discovers discrepancies or omissions. The Dealer Capability Department provides several methods that enable you to report these discoveries.

Feedback can be communicated through the following systems: SIS Web, E-mail, Telephone, Service Information Retrieval System-Title Index (FIND SIRS) and preaddressed postcards.

These methods are very similar to the discrepancy card that is now used by the Dealer Capability Department to report errors and problems to AVSpare.

    SIS Web

Fill in the appropriate information on the Feedback Form screen. Select the "Submit" button in order to process your information.

    E-mail

E-mail can be sent to the Service System Support Center at the following Internet address:

    Sssc@cat.com

    Telephone

Call the Service System Support Center at the following toll free number:

    800-765-0999

Service Information Retrieval System (FIND SIRS)

    Illustration 3g00823553

The Service Information Retrieval System-Title Index (FIND SIRS) can be accessed from either the "Primary Search" or "Search Results" screen. Place a letter (C) in front of the item that is questionable on the "Search Results" screen.

The media number and publication date are automatically filled in on the screen. This screen allows the user to input the following information: comments, problems and discrepancies. Fill in the blank spaces on this screen. To process the information, press "Enter". The FIND SIRS coordinator will review the information.

If a question arises, press "PF1" (Help) and select the number that corresponds to the field for additional information. To step through all of the help screens for the Primary Search Panel screen, press "Enter".

    Technical Information Feedback System

The Technical Information Feedback System consists of a preaddressed postcard that is simple and easy to use. The reverse side of this card lists the information that is the responsibility of the Dealer Capability Department. A space is provided on the card in order to enter the specific information and a brief explanation of the discrepancy or omission of information.

The information that is provided is used in order to update the existing information. Be sure to indicate the type of information by checking the appropriate box.

    Enter the following information:

    • Model number of the machine or engine

    • Product Identification Number (PIN) or Serial Number

    • The number of the engine arrangement

    • Numbers of the media and page

    • Title and issue date

    • Your name and address

When your feedback card is received, the information will be forwarded to the appropriate area. A response will be made in order to inform you of the action AVSpare plans.

Most of the changes will first appear in the SIS and the SIRS systems. The changes on paper will be made when a reprint is required. If necessary, a supplement or an article will be published in the Service Magazine.

Note: Some changes take a long period of time.

The media number for the Technical Information Feedback System is 01-083783-05 (0907). To order a supply, you must use media number 00083783. Place your order in the same manner for any type of service information.

AVSpare encourages all product support personnel to use the feedback systems. Your input is important.
