The oil drain coupling on some of the above machines has been incorrectly used for oil fill.
The 9S-9271 Male Coupler is intended for use when the engine oil filters are changed. The coupler is intended for use only for draining the engine oil from the tube on the filtered side of the engine oil filters. The coupler is provided for draining the tube that connects the oil filter base to the main oil gallery.
Introducing engine oil through the coupler can cause damage from the following conditions:
- Unfiltered engine oil enters the lubrication system, which allows contaminated oil to enter all of the lubricated components, including main bearings and connecting rod bearings.
- The reverse direction of the oil flow toward the engine oil filters can damage the filters.

If the 9S-9271 Male Coupler is not being used for draining oil, remove the coupler. Install a 3M-7045 Plug in the place of the coupler.
Prior to installation of the 3M-7045 Plug, apply 5P-3413 Pipe Sealant or 185-3992 Pipe Sealant to the plug.
Torque for the plug ... 60 ± 6 N·m (44 ± 4 lb ft)
